Kroots and Orks are comfortable in a swamp, but others find
the terrain to be highly unpleasant. Swamp Eerie is an especially
foreboding area. No man knows what danger lurks within its stagnant,
putrid waters. No person knows what evil is concealed within its dank
mists. Many have ventured into the swamp, but few have returned alive.
Those that have dared to explore Swamp Eerie are lured into the area,
searching for the truth behind its myths. Fables claim that there are
four relics within the swamp, four “healing stones.” Each stone is
reputed to have the power to heal lethal wounds. Legends claim that, if
any person is able to bring all 4 stones together, he will become
immortal. Imperial leaders scoff at these myths, but many of the less
educated or desperate individuals will risk their lives in hope that the
stories may prove true.
This map is comprised primarily of chest-high water, which
confers a negative cover modifier across most of the topography. Trees
and vines extend across the map in an unbroken chain. The set of terrain
items available for “Soulstorm” does not include any reeds or bulrushes,
so I was forced to substitute “lanced trees” in their place, which is the
item most similar in appearance. You can use your imagination to think of
the lanced trees as bulrushes, or you may simply prefer the appearance of
the lanced trees as they are, and think of the swamp as an alien landscape
(which it actually is).
This map is designed for up to 4 players. It is suitable
for team-play or for a free-for-all battle against live opponents. It is
also suitable for a single player to fight against the computer AI. It is
designed so that you can use any combination of victory objectives
desired, and any combination of armies you prefer. The map is large, 512
x 512 in size. The map contains a total of 1 critical location, 4 slag
deposits, 4 relics, and 28 strategic points.
