Like the original Venice of Old Earth,
the Imperial city of New Venice is a latticework of canals and bridges. At
key points within the city, steps allow citizens to descend from the building
platforms down to boat piers. Small boats are able to navigate the canals,
which (although impassable to infantry and land vehicles) act as a road system
within the city. New Venice is a coastal city on the planet of Vesper, the
Imperial stronghold of the Vega Ultima star system. New Venice has seen
its share of rebellions and alien wars throughout its long history. The
battles wrought here have left many of the buildings in devastation. Even
various factions within the Imperium have vied for control of the city.
When armies are not fighting in the streets, looters and other criminal scum
ransack the area. While once a place of great beauty, New Venice is now a
maze of rubble with danger lurking around every corner.
This map is designed for up to 4
players. It is suitable for team-play or for a free-for-all battle against live
opponents. It is also suitable for a single player to fight against the
computer AI. It is designed so that you can use any combination of victory
objectives desired. Although scripted to include an Imperial army, the map is
designed so that you can use any combination of armies you prefer. The map is
large, 512 x 512 in size. The map contains a total of 3 critical locations, 4
relics, 8 slag deposits, and 42 strategic points.
