The planet of Ptah is an arid world on its surface; most of the water supply is subterranean and drawn up through wells.  The planet was under Imperial jurisdiction up until about 5,000 years ago, at which time it was conquered by Orks.  The Imperium has recently retaken the world, but records of its past were largely lost during the Ork occupation.  Thanks to the efforts of Imperial archeologists, the lost city of Tanis has been discovered in excavations on Ptah, in the greater continental desert.  The archeological digs confirm the legend that Tanis was first destroyed by Orks, then buried in a sandstorm that lasted for a full year.  Upon examination, you will notice that each excavation pit within the area is bordered by a large mound of dirt and sand; these mounds were formed from the earth that was excavated from the pit, and Imperial engineers have been hard at work to remove the earth to another remote location so that the digs can expand.  Some areas of earth are cracked and emitting steam; these areas are unstable, so construction of buildings will not be permitted atop these fissures.  In the process of excavating Tanis, some ancient relics have been unearthed.  The work of the archaeologists was largely ignored until the relics were found; now every Imperial faction and alien race within the star sector is descending on the area in hopes of seizing some valuable artifact.

This map is designed for up to 6 players.  It is suitable for team-play or for a free-for-all battle against live opponents.  It is also suitable for a single player to fight against the computer AI.  Although scripted to include at least one Imperial force, the map is suitable for any combination of armies you prefer.  The map is enormous, 1024 x 1024 in size, so it may take a long time to load.  It is designed to use any combination of victory objectives desired.  The map contains a total of 3 critical locations, 6 relics, 12 slag deposits, and 42 strategic points.
