Relief of Bastogne

The "Relief of Bastogne" is the only 5-player map that I have created, and I have no plans to create any other 5-player maps in the future.  The map is designed for teamplay.  The first team should consist of 2 Imperial players, and the second team should consist of 3 Ork players.  Alternatively, the map can be played as a free-for-all battle, or for a single player to fight against the computer AI.  It is recommended that you use "fixed" starting positions when playing with this map.  When you click on the link provided at the left-hand side of this page, you will be taken to another page that provides a complete description of the map, along with screenshots.  You can then decide whether or not you want to download the map.

Note: This map was inspired by a famous World War II conflict, commonly referred to as the "Battle of the Bulge."  In this mission, Allied forces are represented by Imperial armies, and  Nazi forces are represented by the Ork clans.

Before downloading or installing a map, you may need to pay attention to the size of the map.  If a map is normal or large in size, it should run on your computer with the same system requirements as demanded by the basic "Dawn of War" specifications.  If a map is enormous, however, the system requirements will be more demanding.  I recommend that your computer have a minimum of 4GB of RAM.  I also recommend that you have a video card with at least 1GB of RAM.  If you are operating with Windows XP, the video card that I recommend is the AMD Radeon HD5450 XFX or better.

In order to play any of the maps, you will need a copy of the computer game, "Dawn of War" along with all of its expansion sets: "Winter Assault," "Dark Crusade," and "Soulstorm."  Some of the maps will not render properly without all of the expansion sets.  Most maps are designed to be used without any mods.  If you want to use mods in the game, I would highly recommend the "Apocalypse Module Version 1.19".

Each of the maps that I offer is stored in a zip file.  Once you download a file, you will need to extract the documents to the following path:

C: Program Files\THQ\Dawn of War Soulstorm\DXP2\Data\Scenarios\MP

The indicated path is based upon the assumption that you installed the game in the default location.  If you installed the game in a different directory, adjust accordingly.  If all the indicated folders do not already exist, create them.

The read-me file can be placed within the same folder to which you extract all your files.  Alternatively, you can move it to a separate folder of your own creation and location.  Each read-me file is saved under a different file name so that the files will never overwrite each other.  It is recommended that you keep the read-me file for future reference, and that you review it before actually playing the mission (especially if the mission is a "Special Scenario").
